Stir-Fried Shrimp and Broccoli Recipe

Ingredients

1 lb (450g) shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on or off)

1 head broccoli, cut into bite-sized florets

1 carrot, thinly sliced (optional, adds crunch)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp vegetable oil (or any neutral oil)

2 tbsp soy sauce (light or dark)

1 tbsp oyster sauce (rich umami flavor)

1 tsp sesame oil (adds fragrance)

½ tsp black pepper

½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

1 tsp cornstarch

¼ cup water or chicken broth
-
1 tsp sugar (balances flavors)

Instructions
1. Prep the Shrimp & Vegetables

Rinse and pat dry the shrimp.

Cut broccoli into florets and slice carrots thinly.
2. Blanch the Broccoli (Optional but recommended)

Bring water to a boil, blanch broccoli for 30–45 seconds.

Drain and rinse under cold water to preserve color and crunch.
3. Make the Sauce

In a bowl, mix:
soy sauce + oyster sauce + sugar + pepper + cornstarch + water or broth

Stir until smooth and set aside.
4. Cook the Shrimp

Heat oil in a wok or large pan over medium-high heat.

Cook shrimp 1–2 minutes per side until pink and slightly golden.

Remove from pan and set aside.
5. Stir-Fry the Vegetables

In the same pan, sauté garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Add carrots and broccoli. Stir-fry for 1–2 minutes.
6. Combine & Finish

Return shrimp to pan.

Pour in the sauce, tossing everything to coat.

Cook 1–2 minutes until sauce thickens.
7. Final Touch

Drizzle with sesame oil.
