President Donald Trump has announced the appointment of Sara Carter as the new Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP).
In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated, “As our next Drug Czar, Sara will lead the charge to protect our nation and save our children from the scourge of drugs.”
Carter expressed her gratitude to the president, sharing her excitement about joining the administration on X. “It is truly an honor to serve President Donald J. Trump and be part of an administration committed to putting America first,” she wrote. “America’s greatest resource is our people, and it will be up to each and every one of us to do our part – I promise you I will never stop fighting.”
As a journalist, Carter has contributed to Fox News and has extensively covered border issues, particularly during the more lenient immigration policies under the Biden administration. She has called for stricter border regulations due to the significant drug and human trafficking problems.
Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) congratulated Carter on her new role, stating that she would “fight tirelessly” to keep Americans safe and praised her expertise on border issues. “Congratulations to @SaraCarterDC on becoming Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy! Sara is an expert on the border and the crisis it has created for drug trafficking. This issue has put Tennesseans in harm’s way for far too long, but Sara will fight relentlessly as Drug Czar to keep our loved ones safe,” Blackburn wrote.
