President Donald Trump reported on Sunday that one of his properties in Scotland, the Trump Turnberry golf course, was vandalized, but authorities have apprehended those allegedly responsible for the damage.
According to a BBC report, the vandalism occurred on March 8, when red paint was sprayed on at least one building and other structures at the golf course. Additionally, someone dug up a green and painted the message “Gaza is not for sale” on another area. Photos of the damage also showed various pro-Palestine and anti-Trump slogans painted in red.
Law enforcement officials have charged a 33-year-old man in connection with the vandalism. He was arrested on March 12 and later released, with a court appearance scheduled for Monday. The BBC also reported that a 75-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman were arrested in relation to the incident.
Trump addressed the vandalism on Truth Social, stating that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer informed him that “they caught the terrorists who attacked the beautiful Turnberry, in Scotland.” He expressed gratitude for the swift action of law enforcement, saying, “They did serious damage, and will hopefully be treated harshly. The three people who did this are in prison.” Trump emphasized the importance of addressing such attacks and thanked Prime Minister Starmer and UK law enforcement for their efforts.
The vandalism at Trump Turnberry occurred just days before a separate incident at Trump International Golf Links and Hotel in Doonbeg, Ireland, where Palestinian flags were planted on the grounds, and similar acts of vandalism were reported. This incident coincided with Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin’s visit to the White House to meet with Trump in preparation for St. Patrick’s Day. The Gardaí, the Irish police force, are currently investigating the Doonbeg incident but have not yet made any arrests.
A spokesperson for the Trump Doonbeg property described the vandalism as a “childish, criminal act” but assured that the team at the property would ensure it does not impact business. They expressed pride in the success of the golf course and looked forward to a great season ahead.
In addition to the vandalism at Trump properties, several Tesla dealerships and facilities have also faced attacks, including gunshots and firebombs, following CEO Elon Musk’s agreement to assist the administration with government efficiency efforts. In response to these incidents, the FBI announced the establishment of a task force aimed at addressing violent attacks against Tesla.
The FBI has warned the public to be vigilant for any signs of potential attacks on Tesla dealerships or associated entities, including individuals monitoring or attempting to enter Tesla properties or making threats online. FBI Assistant Director for Public Affairs Ben Williamson stated that the new task force will collaborate with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives to investigate these anti-Tesla attacks.
